Quality Components with UKAS Calibrating System

BS EN ISO 9001:2000 accreditation was obtained in 2002 and then later upgraded to BS EN ISO 9001:2008 for the quality management system in operation at our works. This ensures traceability of all the components manufactured within the company.
All of our inspection equipment is calibrated and traceable back to UKAS calibration quality standards.

We machine a wide range of materials, from plastics such as peek and nylatron through to high temperature alloys such as inconel and monel. This reflects the requirements from the various companies we currently work for in the oil and gas, power transmission, construction, water transfer and treatment and nuclear industries.

The company is a member of the C.K.M.A. and M.Y.C.C.I. and has worked on development projects with M.A.S. and business coaches and will continue to do so for further improvement.

1989 – M Thornton Engineering was founded by Michael Thornton.

1997 – Our first CNC Lathe was purchased.

1998 – Purchase of the first CNC 3 axis machining centre.

2002 – M Thornton Engineering registered as a Limited company.

2005 – Purchase of the Mazak Integrex 200IIIs, one hit manufacturing machine was added to our list of equipment.

2006 – Expansion of the building to its current design.

2010 – 2014 – The company has invested and developed apprentices through the company at one per year.

2013 – A wire-erosion machine was added to further expand the company skills and capabilities.

The company will continue to invest in personnel, and upgrade and invest in machine tools and equipment.
